Mosquito Killer Mosquito Traps

How a Mosquito Magnet Works

A mosquito magnet sends out a plume of moist carbon dioxide, similar to breathing. This gas is designed to attract the mosquitoes and as they approach they are sucked into a vacuum. Here they dehydrate and die, so the air and the people are protected from the pests that could cause diseases. Some of these mosquito traps use octenol that emulates the smell of cattle, which enhances the ability of the trap to attract mosquitoes.

Why does a mosquito magnet work?

A mosquito magnet uses propane to produce the carbon dioxide. This action helps the fans to blow out the carbon dioxide that attracts the mosquitoes, which recognize this as meaning that people are breathing and come looking for food. However, you should have one of these traps that have an ultra-violet light. Studies using traps have shown that mosquitoes also seem to be attracted to this type of light.

Benefits of using a mosquito magnet

When you have a mosquito magnet you enjoy many benefits, such as:

  • You can sit on your patio in comfort without having to be constantly batting off mosquitoes
  • You don't have to dress up in long sleeves and pants to go out in your garden
  • You don't have to soak yourself and the children in repellent in order to go outdoors.
  • No harmful chemicals are involved.

A magnet to catch mosquitoes looks something like a BBQ that you can set up in your backyard. Once you turn it on, it will work continuously for the entire season. You do need a propane tank attached to the magnet that you will need to refill on a regular basis. After a week of using this device, you will notice a marked reduction in the mosquitoes around your patio and yard.
