It's always better to have too much than to buy a piece of netting, only to find that it is not large enough to serve as a canopy for your sleeping quarters.

What to look for in mosquito netting

When you are buying mosquito netting, you should look for material which:

• Has large enough mesh to allow air to circulate
• Has small mesh to prevent mosquitoes from getting through
• Nylon mesh that is durable, lightweight and long lasting

You should avoid a net made from cotton because it gets damp quite easily and then it gets heavy. The size of the netting should be such that it will cover you without touching you. Rectangular shaped nets are much easier for covering more space because you can put them around a room or over a tent. It is also good advice to purchase netting that has been predipped in an insecticide such as permethrin. This is done at the factory before you buy it and will last for at least a year.
